Here, as for the transportation of art objects, factors, such as room climate, light, air cleanness, fire protection and security, are permanently monitored. The goal is to detect, evaluate and minimise risks.

The Doerner Institut consequently oversees all museum design activities of the Bayerische Staatsgemäldesammlungen from a conservation point of view. The Institut also acts as a consultant to other institutions in matters of preventive conservation.
