This systematic approach provides insights into nearly all periods of Max Pechstein’s artistic work and are of considerable importance when evaluating so long un-examined works of the painter. With the aim of exploiting our technical knowledge more effectively, deepen our understanding of the biographical context and also aid in providing more reliable answers to provenance research , the Doerner Institute works in close cooperation and consultation with the Max Pechstein copyright holders, and the author of the forthcoming catalogue raisonne, Dr. Aya Soika, Berlin. In particular, such a cooperation entails an exchange of information on specific works, provided that the owner does not explicitely exclude this.
