Scientific investigations requested by the Staatliches Museum Schwerin have been carried out on two 17th century Dutch paintings. The two outstanding works of the Schwerin collection are an Italian landscape with the ruin of Brederode Castle by Nicolaes Berchem (1620/21-1683) and The deliverance of St. Peter from prison by Hendrik ter Brugghen (1588-1629). These two masterpieces are being restored by the conservators Silvia Castro and Anna Bonewitz thanks to funding by the Getty Foundation.
