Additional background on this initiative can be found in an article by PD Dr. Andreas Burmester, who has studied this topic for many years.

Thanks to the generous support of the Ernst von Siemens Foundation, it was possible for the Doerner Institut to contribute three exhibitions to the WISSENSSPEICHER project. The start of this initiative was the exhibition detective_stories seen by up to 74,800 visitors at the Pinakothek der Moderne. The second exhibition, on Leonardo da Vinci’s Madonna with the Carnation, was also popular with 34,000 visitors and lively press coverage. The exhibition Carl Rottmann – Ten Tons Hellas, attracting nearly 59,000 visitors, was the final exhibition within the series of smaller and larger WISSENSSPEICHER exhibitions. With these three exhibitions, the Doerner Institut was able to provide some insight for the general public into its daily work. Numerous guided tours dealt with the questions of an interested and appreciative public.
